All Saints Day

All Saints Day on Saturday, November 1, is not a Holy Day of Obligation because it falls on a Saturday.

All Souls Day

Boxes and sheets of paper are placed in each church for you to send in the names of those you wish to be remembered in the novena of masses that begins on Nov. 2.

This year All Souls Day falls on Sunday, therefore there will be no mass at the Gonzales Catholic Cemetery and Waelder Community Cemetery. However, the blessing of graves will be held at 9am at both cemeteries on Saturday, November 1. If you would like to have your loved one’s grave blessed, please inform the priest or deacon that is present at the cemetery.

The cemetery clean-up day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25. We politely ask for volunteers to arrive at the Gonzales Catholic Cemetery at 9 am. If you have decorations at a gravesite, such as lights or flowers, that are not attached to a gravestone, please remove them before the clean-up day. The purpose of cleaning the grave sites is to facilitate mowing the grass in the cemetery.

Our Mission

The St. James, Sacred Heart and St. Patrick communities - blessed with the love of the Father, through faith in Jesus Christ and with guidance from the Holy Spirit - will work together to form the united Catholic and apostolic Church committed to hospitality, stewardship and fellowship among diverse parishioners through religious education and a dedication to believing, living and sharing the word of God.

Our Symbol

Three circles come together, representing the three churches of our community. Overlapping but not completely overlaid means that even in our unity, we respect the individuality of each church and each person. Our Lord’s Cross is the core of our bond.

We are a Catholic Community blessed with great diversity - different cultures, languages, customs and ways of praying - held together by the love of God.
