Class for Parents and Godparents
4th Sunday of Each Month
6:00 PM at Sacred Heart
Baptism celebrated at the end of any Sunday Mass
Preparation may be done before child is born.
Requirements for Sponsors – Requisitos para Patrocinadores
1. A Godparent is required for anyone who seeks the Sacrament of Baptism in the Church. A Sponsor is required for anyone who seeks the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Church. A candidate for Baptism or Confirmation only needs one God Parent or Sponsor. If there are two, they must be one male and one female. It is recommended, but not required, that the sponsor be the same person who served as Godparent.
Se requiere un Padrino para cualquier persona que reciba el Sacramento del Bautismo en la Iglesia. Se requiere un Patrocinador para cualquier persona que reciba el Sacramento de la Confirmación en la Iglesia. Un candidato para el Bautismo o Confirmación solo necesita un Padrino o Patrocinador. Si hay dos, deben ser un hombre y una mujer. Se recomienda, pero no se requiere, que el Patrocinador sea la misma persona que sirvió como Padrino.
2. The Godparent or Sponsor must be at least 16 years of age.
El Padrino o Patrocinador debe tener al menos dieciséis años de edad.
3. The Godparent or Sponsor must belong to the Catholic Church and have been fully initiated into the Church by receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.
El Padrino o Patrocinador debe pertenecer a la Iglesia Católica y haber sido completamente iniciado en la Iglesia al recibir los sacramentos del Bautismo, la Eucaristía, y la Confirmación.
4. The Godparent or Sponsor must be a practicing Catholic able to validly receive the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. A practicing Catholic attends Mass every Sunday and follows the teachings and precepts of the Church.
El Padrino o Patrocinador debe ser un católico practicante capaz de recibir el Sacramento de la Sagrada Eucaristía. Un católico practicante asiste a misa todos los domingos y sigue las enseñanzas y preceptos de la Iglesia.
5. The Godparent or Sponsor, if married, must be validly married in the Catholic Church.
El Padrino o Patrocinador, si está casado, debe estar casado válidamente en la Iglesia Católica.
6. The Godparent or Sponsor may not be the parent of the child to be Baptized or Confirmed.
El Padrino o Patrocinador no puede ser el padre del niño que se bautizará o confirmará.
7. The Godparent or Sponsor should be someone who will continue to have influence on your child’s religious formation through the years.
El Padrino o Patrocinador debe ser alguien que continuará teniendo influencia en la formación religiosa de su hijo a lo largo de los años.
